KPMG and Workiva Collaborate to Accelerate, Automate, and Advance ESG and Climate Data Management and Analytics

Ensuring Data Consistency is a Top Challenge Companies Face When It Comes to ESG Reporting

NEW YORK, N.Y. – KPMG and Workiva Inc. (NYSE: WK) announced an expanded collaboration to facilitate ESG reporting. KPMG has developed an innovative approach, utilizing Workiva technology and Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, to address ESG reporting concerns including inconsistent data and siloed data sources, limited data validations and controls, lack of traceability, and highly manual and inefficient data processes.

“The SEC Climate disclosure requirements have heightened the need for companies to improve disclosures and reporting,” said Rob Fisher ESG Leader, KPMG US. “By leveraging Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability and the Workiva platform, we are helping clients streamline the process of integrating environmental data across sources to establish more complete and reliable climate reporting and analytics.”

KPMG and Workiva announced an expanded alliance relationship earlier this year focused on providing ESG data and reporting solutions and services. Now they are incorporating Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability to enhance data management processes and accelerate near real-time regulatory reporting and analytics to meet evolving ESG reporting requirements and providing the analytics and insights needed to drive the organization’s ESG strategy. KPMG is a Workiva premier ESG implementation and advisory partner, with deep sustainability experience across all industries, that will leverage Workiva’s powerful, cloud-based, connected platform, along with Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability to advance clients’ ESG journeys.

"This collaboration will enable and optimize our customers' ESG strategies and control processes. It is critical we continue to address the evolving requirements of ESG reporting through the power of partnership and the development of timely, innovative solutions,” said Corey Wells, SVP of Partnerships & Alliances, Workiva. "Workiva is committed to ensuring our customers remain equipped to meet demands for transparency, accountability, and emerging regulation, made possible by the only fully unified platform capable of disclosing ESG data with the rigor and assurance of investor-grade reporting."

Workiva’s unified cloud-based platform simplifies and automates ESG disclosures, supports auditability, and focuses resources on value-added opportunities, and enables collaboration and integration to simplify increasingly complex ESG reporting.

“KPMG incorporating Cloud for Sustainability into their approach for client ESG data and reporting solutions will enable customers to leverage high quality data to make real-time decisions,” said Kelly Rogan, CVP of Global System Integrators & Advisory Partners for Microsoft. “The KPMG approach is valuable for customers who need to comply with ESG reporting requirements, while helping them identify where they currently are and where they need to be in the future.”
