Workiva Helps State University System of Florida Streamline Tuition and Fees Reporting
With Wdesk SUSF Beats Reporting Deadline by One Month
AMES, Iowa, Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Workiva (NYSE:WK), a leading provider of enterprise cloud solutions for improving productivity, accountability and insight in business data, announced today that the State University System of Florida (SUSF) uses Wdesk to save time and improve data quality when creating and distributing tuition, fees and other financial reports.
Chris Kinsley, Director of Finance and Facilities for SUSF, turned to Wdesk to collect data related to bond refinancing, state-funded projects and tuition and fees. SUSF is a system of 12 Florida public universities with more than 300,000 students.
"Wdesk helped us remove a lot of layers," said Kinsley. "In our old process, we had several steps that involved emails, repetitive entries and constant reviews. Wdesk put all of these steps into one application. We now have the ability to see who is submitting the data, and we can directly go to that person."
SUSF posts a complicated tuition and fees schedule, comprising each university's standard set of fees along with fees that are unique to separate programs. "Now with Wdesk, we just click one button and it automatically distributes the information," explained Kinsley.
The schedules are provided to state agencies to help finalize student financial-aid programs before the fall semester begins. "The pressure is on to get it published by mid-August," said Kinsley. "This year, with Wdesk, we published the data in the first week of July, more than a month sooner than before."
"With Wdesk, we are able to provide definite answers to students earlier, and it really makes their lives easier and helps them make better decisions," said Kinsley.
"There is huge pressure to have accurate data," explained Kinsley. "Wdesk linking helps us validate that the numbers are correct, and I have confidence when reporting to our students, Board and state agencies."
Wdesk also maintains data and process consistency, which helps when key people change jobs. "Wdesk is an archive, so we have a record of everything. This helps us continue working even when we have a new person on our team," added Kinsley.
