Workiva Receives Certification from XBRL US Data Quality Committee
Market Leader Wdesk is Used to File More Than Half of All XBRL Facts
AMES, Iowa, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Workiva (NYSE:WK), creator of the Wdesk cloud-based productivity platform for enterprises, today announced that XBRL US has certified that the Wdesk platform has successfully incorporated the Data Quality Committee's (DQC) initial set of validation rules for filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
XBRL US granted the certification based on independent tests confirming that Wdesk employs the current, complete set of DQC validation rules and produces the expected results.
"Workiva has led the efforts within the DQC to increase the value of XBRL data for all stakeholders since the committee's inception," said Marty Vanderploeg, President and COO of Workiva. "It's important that all major service providers that publish and file SEC reports follow the same guidance and validation rules."
Workiva, whose customers accounted for more than 50 percent of the XBRL facts filed in Form 10-Q and Form 10-K reports with the SEC in the first quarter of 2016, has committed staff and resources to support the Center for Data Quality, which funds the DQC.
Mike Starr, Vice President for Governmental and Regulatory Affairs at Workiva, chairs the DQC and helped create the automated validation rules to detect input errors and verify compliance with the committee's guidance.
The DQC, which approved its first set of validation rules last November, plans to release its second set of rules in May for public exposure and comment. XBRL US will update certifications each time a new set of rules is released.
